Meet Michaela Pulford, a 17-year-old Gold Coast local and Year 12 student, swimming her way to the Olympics. Michaela has been swimming since she was 9 years old, she was a QLD Triathlon representative, state level cross country runner and track athlete, before switching to competitive full time swimming at the age of 14. Michaela is an up and coming youth swimmer and 2021 Australian National Age Champion in the 800m and 1500m freestyle. She is competing in the Australian Trials in Adelaide in June in an attempt to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. She has already qualified in the 200/400/800/1500 freestyle for the World Junior Championships in Russia in August, pending COVID restrictions.

What Fuels Michaela?

Michaela trains and races on Fixx Nutrition’s Fuel X Endurance Fuel. “Fuel X Pro (with Amino Acids) gives me that extra boost when I’m fatigued after a big day at school. I sip on the Lemon-Lime and Pear throughout my training to keep me hydrated and energised through my gruelling two hours sessions where I swim around 50km per week” said the 17-year-old swimmer. The Amino Acids in the Fuel X Pro are ideal for improved performance and endurance in training and racing. Michaela also likes to take a Fixx Nutrition Cold Brew Coffee Shot just before her races to give her an extra boost of energy before diving off the blocks. “Mocha is definitely my favourite flavour”, she says. Our Cold Brew Coffee shots contain 150mg of natural occurring caffeine, equivalent to a double shot of coffee!

What’s next for her?

Michaela’s goal is to qualify for the Olympics in the coming years to compete against the best in the world. She trains at the highly regarded Griffith University Swim Club, which is home to many Olympic swimmers. Michaela’s rise has been incredible, given that she only won her first state medal less than 2 years ago. She is proving that she is a force to be reckoned with and we are so proud to have Michaela on our Fixx Team! We wish this up and coming youth swimmer the best of luck in her future races!
