Fixx Nutritions incredible 2024 was capped off this week after taking out the manufacturing category in the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

For the fast-growing local success story this award culminated an incredible 12 months that has seen the brand grow its revenue by 50 per cent and enter new international markets with its range of all-natural sports supplements, developed by athletes for athletes.

These awards recognise the growing importance of the city as a business hub and recognises leading businesses in their specific category, with Fixx Nutrition’s dedication to producing high-quality, all natural products from its Burleigh Heads headquarters, showcasing how the Gold Coast is fast-becoming a leading centre for innovative manufacturers, entrepreneurs and companies dedicated to becoming global leaders.

For Fixx Nutrition Co-founders Jan and Michelle Buchegger, this award provided a real milestone for them as it marks the culmination of seven years of hard work following the sale of their previous business, food manufacturer and supplier, Fehlbergs Fine Foods to Australian food giant Riviana in 2017.

“Both Michelle and I are avid athletes and back when we were running Fehlbergs Fine Foods we received a call from a leading sports scientist for pickle juice to provide to his athletes; this late night conversation was the genesis of us making the decision to follow our passion and set-up our own nutrition firm,” said Mr Buchegger.

“Our experience in food manufacturing is allowing us to manage the challenges currently facing Australian business, and we appear to be counteracting the drop in consumer spending due to our products primarily targeting amateur and professional athletes alike who select us due to the efficacy of our range. In-fact, as passionate Gold Coasters who proudly manufacture from our Burleigh headquarters, partner with iconic events like the Gold Coast Marathon (our hometown marathon) and we proudly fly the flag for the city wherever we go around the world.”

Fixx manufactures its range of all-natural nutritional supplements at its Burleigh Heads headquarters, its growth is surging with their products sold in over 1,000 plus retailers across Australia alone; with international growth across 15 countries in markets ranging from East Asia, to Europe and expansion into the world’s largest nutritional supplement market, the United States next on the cards.

With year-on-year growth for FY 23/24 reaching 50 per cent of revenue and a fast growing brand presence that has seen its logo plastered across major athletic events across Australia – including their hometown Gold Coast Marathon – Fixx is expanding during a time where many companies are feeling the pinch of higher costs and shrinking consumer demand.

Fixx Nutrition was founded in 2017 by Michelle and Jan Buchegger when they embarked upon a journey to trial the benefits of using a humble jar of pickle juice to improve athlete performance.

CrampFix  was the end of the result of this journey and is now its signature product which offers very fast relief from muscle cramps. They began testing their specially formulated, all-natural pickle juice concoction on a team of professional rugby union players, with the aim of lengthening their on-field performance time by eliminating muscle cramps.

Over the past five years, interest in its products has exploded exponentially as both athletes and the general public seek healthy, natural alternatives to pharmaceutical relief for cramping or all-natural supplements for athletes,  as growing awareness that Fixx Nutrition’s product formulations present as a healthy, natural alternative to sugar-laden energy drinks for people seeking to rehydrate, prevent and relieve cramping during exercise activities.

According to Jan, it is the combination of presenting an all-natural alternative to pharmaceutical relief for amateur and professional athletes alike, as well as clear labelling and a focus on supplements that actually taste good that is driving the brands growth.

“We are fielding enquiries every single day from countries across the world for our all-natural products and this demand is now reaching a point that we are looking to partner with one of the largest eCommerce resellers in the United States due to growing interest in Fixx,” Mr Buchegger said.

“People are looking for an alternative to the sugar-laden sports drinks currently in the market and Fixx is providing this option with products that aren’t only effective, they also taste really good – as someone who has used supplements in the past I can tell you that this last part is really important as often, what is good for you in this space, tastes awful.”
