Eva Goodisson is a short-course triathlete representing New Zealand on the World Triathlon Series, while also competing on the French Series and Supertri circuit. She thrives on anything short and spicy—though a 70.3 may be on the cards in the next few years.

Eva grew up in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, as a swimmer (a breaststroker—so not the most triathlon-friendly start) while also playing a variety of sports. She soon found her stride in athletics, achieving early success in running. This led to a four-year scholarship at the University of California, Davis, where she competed in cross country and track and field. Her time at UC Davis was formative both academically and athletically, and she built lifelong friendships while continuing to develop as an athlete.

After graduating in 2021, Eva trialled for the New Zealand elite triathlon team in 2022. She narrowly missed selection for the Commonwealth Games but remained part of the national squad. That early success was followed by a challenging period in 2023, when a prolapsed disc sidelined her running and required nearly two years for a full return to form.

In 2024, Eva relocated to the Gold Coast to pursue her Olympic ambitions and now trains with Dan Atkins’ squad, focused on qualifying for the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

As a female athlete, Eva is a strong advocate for proper nutrition and fuelling to support recovery, performance, and injury prevention. During her time in the US, she experienced multiple bone stress injuries, which highlighted the critical importance of adequate fuelling before, during, and after training. Since prioritising this, she has seen significant improvements in consistency, resilience, and overall performance.
